Kickstarter of Note: Sunrise City

Nothing is more satisfying to me than building a city: there’s something about watching your town in SimCity grow from a power plant and a few houses to a complex, bustling metropolis. City building games are all about managing complex growth, analyzing trends, and shepherding a vast number of people as their needs increase. They’ve inspired my own real-life interest in urban planning. I’ve recently been spending my time with the indie transit game Cities in Motion, but I’ve really been itching for a new city-building game for quite some time.

Which is why I’m excited so excited for Sunrise City, a board game funded on Kickstarter by Clever Mojo Games. It’s already way past the funding goal on Kickstarter, but it’s available for pre-order.

From the creators:

Sunrise City is a role selection, tile-laying, city-building board game. It’s simple enough for kids of a reasonable age, friendly enough for family game night, and meaty enough for experienced gamers. It can be played by two to four players and, depending on your experience, is playable in about 60 minutes.
